Competition 1.5

So due to a time clash with my competition and my 21st birthday dinner, I was forced to withdraw from the QWA League Round #2. It was slightly disappointing but it's not that important (there are several throughout the year). To make up for it I did a singles session anyway on Saturday with my cousin who came up and another friend, then Monday too, with E. I ended up getting 55/72.5. I missed 70 CJ the first time then smashed it the second. Also missed 60 SN and 75 SN. On Monday I missed 55 SN the first time, too slow, then smashed 55 (power) and missed 57. I then got 70 CJ, missed 73 down too early, quite sure I got 74, and missed 75 elbow rebend.

For the time being I will use the numbers 55/75 for training as my PBs. I am still not yet able to get into an optimal catch position for snatch and jerk, when I go near max I end up just doing powers instead. Hopefully by the end of the year I will have got the rough technique down enough to only need slight refinining, so my training can be optimal.

As a side note, I also did some mucking around on Saturday. Got 65 push press 80 bench, 100x2 FS, 130 deadlift. To recap on current PBs:

SN       55
CJ        75
BSx5    96
FSx5    89
SSx5    42
PP        65
BP        80
DL      130

Anyway, June 1st will be my next competition hopefully. Starting my program from week 1 on new numbers. Hopefully see you then. In the mean time, check out my youtube for video updates and other random stuff.

Follow my journey and watch me grow. I'll be back.

P.S. Sorry for not writing this post very well. Just had training and am very tired and rushed. Uni calls.

Competition 1

So Coach got us to start in the more recent competition instead, which happened today. The JME Queensland Club Challenge. It's more of a lift-off for yourself rather than a competition, but it was good for starting off. Lessons learnt were warming up and the feeling of lifting in a competition.

Went 30/35/40 in the Snatch lift and 45/50/55 in the Clean and Jerk lift. Six out of six for me and a total of 95kg :) (technically got 9 PBs today :P).

Will be hoping to hit 55/70 at the next competition in April.

Current PRs :

SN         45
CJ          65
BSx5     82.5
FSx5     72.5
SSx5     22.5
Brdgx3  1:15

Goals by no specific time (maybe just end of 2013/end of 2014):
SN        75,   95
CJ         95,  120
BSx1    140, 160
FSx1    120, 140

Dream Goals:
2020 Olympics
201x Any International Event
2018 Commonwealth Games
201x Any Lesser International Event
2015 U23 International

Train hard. I'll be back soon.

Weightlifting going well.

Had a long break. Lost a bit of strength, but not that important right now. Technique is coming together, and mobility is much improved.

PB Power Clean 65kg
PB Split Jerk 40kg
PB Power Snatch 30kg

Current FS max 5x75kg
Current BS max 5x80kg, 2x90kg

First competition coming up on April 20th. Will probably check in then.

Day 80

I did it. Finally.

I joined the gym in Chandler and am now getting coaching for Olympic Weightlifting. I am also banned from the bench press.

Mobility issues aside, it's great. Booked in for the physio next Monday, and got a 135 BS last weekend.

E joined with me too. We now train together. It's good.

I look forward to what's to come. No more gym, no more powerlifting, just weightlifting.

Day 63

Hi, I'm back.

So I stopped again and then started again. This time I'm even stronger than before, at less weight. 31/09/2012 I weighed 59.96 kg. This puts me in the 60kg (132lb) class, and I pulled 130/100/145 (286/220/320). I was pretty happy with the 100kg bench, a big milestone for me. The CAPO National record for Open Men's 60kg is 100kg, so I hope to smash that. Of course in other countries there are genetic freaks (little black men who are 5'2 and strong as f***) who dominate my weight category right now, but hopefully if I were to compete in the future I would probably want to move up to the 67.5kg weight class. Anyway for now I'm extremely satisfied. I've met the Ex-rx Advanced standards for squat and bench which are something like 127.5 and 95 respectively, however I'm very lacking on my deadlifts (which I will work on from now) so hopefully I can get Advanced on that (155) before I get heavier.

Anyway university has been horribly taxing on me, in terms of sleeping and eating habits. I'll recap:

130/100/145 @ 59.96.

I'll definitely improve this by next month. See you then maybe. Or even sooner.
